Everything you need to know about your Kandy tour
The best time to visit Kandy is from December to April when the weather is dry and pleasant, perfect for sightseeing and outdoor activities. July and August are also popular due to the spectacular Esala Perahera festival, though this period requires booking well in advance. The southwest monsoon affects Kandy from May to July, but showers are typically short and the landscape remains lush and beautiful year-round.
We provide complimentary airport transfers from Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) to Cinnamon Citadel. The journey takes approximately 3 hours by private air-conditioned vehicle, passing through scenic countryside. Your chauffeur guide will meet you at the arrivals hall with a name board. Alternatively, helicopter transfers can be arranged for an additional fee (15-minute flight).
Absolutely! This tour is very family-friendly. Cinnamon Citadel offers family rooms and connecting rooms, and the hotel features a swimming pool and spacious gardens perfect for children. The itinerary can be adjusted to be more child-friendly with shorter temple visits and additional stops at interesting spots like the Kandy lake boat ride. Children under 5 stay free, and reduced rates apply for children 5-12 years.
Modest dress is required for temple visits. Shoulders and knees must be covered for both men and women. We recommend lightweight long pants or long skirts and tops with sleeves. You'll need to remove shoes and hats before entering temple buildings, so easy-to-remove footwear is practical. White clothing is considered respectful but not mandatory. We provide sarongs if needed, and your guide will brief you on temple etiquette.
Yes, Cinnamon Citadel's restaurants can accommodate various dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergies. Please inform us of any dietary needs at the time of booking so we can notify the hotel in advance. Sri Lankan cuisine is naturally very vegetarian-friendly, and the hotel's chefs are experienced in preparing international cuisines as well.
We offer flexible cancellation terms: Full refund for cancellations made 30 days or more before arrival. 50% refund for cancellations 15-29 days before arrival.
