The best time to visit Sigiriya and Minneriya National Park is from May to September, which is the peak elephant gathering season. For Sigiriya Rock and Dambulla Cave Temple, the dry season from January to September offers the best climbing conditions and visibility.

The Sigiriya Rock climb involves approximately 1,200 steps and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit and return. While the climb is moderately challenging, it is suitable for most fitness levels. There are rest platforms along the way, and the path is well-maintained with railings. We recommend starting early morning (around 7 AM) to avoid heat.
