Everything you need to know about your luxury safari
Yes, children are welcome at Wild Coast Tented Lodge. Family cocoons are available with additional bedding. The lodge offers junior ranger programs and child-friendly safari activities. However, please note that game drives can be long (3-4 hours) and early morning starts (5:30 AM) may be challenging for very young children. We recommend this experience for children aged 6 and above.
The dry season from February to July offers the best leopard sightings as vegetation is sparse and animals gather around water sources. However, Yala offers excellent wildlife viewing year-round. September to January (the 'green season') provides lush landscapes and fewer tourists, though leopards may be harder to spot in dense vegetation. Our expert rangers have a 95% success rate in leopard sightings throughout the year.
While Wild Coast Tented Lodge is located in a wilderness area, safety is paramount. The tents are secure structures with lockable doors and windows, and the lodge is fenced with electric barriers to prevent large animals from entering. Rangers escort guests after dark, and comprehensive safety briefings are provided on arrival. You are more likely to see wildlife from the safety of your game drive vehicle than near the tents.
Pack lightweight, neutral-colored clothing (khaki, beige, olive - avoid white and bright colors), comfortable closed shoes for game drives, a wide-brimmed hat, high SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, and a camera with zoom lens. The lodge provides torches, rain ponchos, and refillable water bottles. Evening dinners are smart-casual. Don't forget swimwear for your private pool and the beach!
Yes, WiFi is available throughout the lodge including in the tents, though speeds may be slower than urban areas due to the remote location. Phone signal is generally good for most networks. However, we encourage guests to embrace the 'digital detox' aspect of safari life - the lodge provides binoculars and field guides in each tent for wildlife spotting from your private deck!
Absolutely. The culinary team at Wild Coast Tented Lodge can accommodate all dietary requirements including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, and allergies. Please inform us of any dietary needs at the time of booking so the chef can prepare personalized menus for your stay.
